#Merry Christmas and a Courageous 2021!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A SAFE, PROSPEROUS & COURAGEOUS 2021 FROM ALL OF US AT INSIUM

This year, insium chooses to make a donation to Zoos Victoria.  Zoos Victoria is a world-leading zoo-based conservation organisation, dedicated to fighting wildlife extinction. By strengthening the connection between people and wildlife, they hope to protect the future of animals and their homes.

Zoos Victoria is committed to fighting wildlife extinction. They work with scientists, wildlife experts and communities to save endangered species both nationally and internationally. Their goal is to be the world's leading zoo-based conservation organisation.

Zoos Victoria is involved in conservation programs in six countries, eight grass-roots community conservation campaigns, and more than 50 research projects. They inspire communities to commit to the conservation of wildlife and wild places by connecting people and wildlife. Their Wildlife Conservation Master Plan 2019-2024 is dedicated to the recovery of 27 threatened native species, outlining the work and projects they will undertake to save these species from extinction and excite our communities to fight for a future rich in wildlife.

Dare To Lead™ Workshop Version 2 Curriculum, delivered online

A Google search for “leading through corona” returned 172 million results in 0.31 seconds. A search of “leading through covid” returned 860 million results in less time.  No doubt, there is cross-over between these two searches. A search of “corona, covid, leader, courage” returned 1.3 million results.

#Resources

As you know, I am passionate about building courage, and in the past few months, I have no doubt that we have all needed courage at different times.  I certainly have.  To help enable your and my courage, we have created a number of resources over the past few months which you may already be familiar with.  My purpose today is to provide a compilation of these resources, so that when you need, you can easily find what is most valuable for you.

Community in the Here & Now

#Community in the here and now

I really struggled in writing this newsletter.  My tension came from not wanting to fill your inbox with another email when there is so much happening for everyone; my tension came from “do I forge on, assuming business as usual and provide insium updates” or “do I focus on the immediate here and now”?

#What'sGoingOn?

We’re so energised by the work that we’ve been up to and the work that is ahead of us.  WE know we’re at our best when we’re exploring courage, leadership, teams, self with you.  Hope you’re energised too.

Dare to Lead:  As Dina’s expertise in courage grows, she continues to seek collaborations to learn with others.  She’s excited to let you know that in mid-June she is headed to San Antonio, TX, USA to be accredited by none other than Brené Brown in Brené’s Dare to Lead program.  This accreditation will mean that in addition to her own knowledge and tools, Dina will be able to integrate the expertise and tools that Brené has developed into her own work on Leading with Courage.

From 2018 to 2019

From 2018 to 2019

From 2018 to 2019

1.  What do Google Year in Search 2018, Strengths and Positive Practices have in common?

For at least the past 5 years, Google has been releasing a short video which highlights what we, as a common humanity, searched for most in the previous year; Google’s Year in Search 2018 can be found here.

In 2018, we, the world, searched for good– good things in the world, how to be a good citizen, how to be a good singer, what makes a good role-model, and more.

As I watched this short 2-minute video I reflected on my VIA Signature Strengths which are:

  • Love of learning
  • Love
  • Fairness
  • Honesty
  • Bravery
  • Curiosity

I started smiling from approximately 8 seconds into the video and my smile just kept getting bigger and bigger.  I have now watched this clip at least a dozen times and knowing there is so much love and care in the world keeps filling my heart.

Not being familiar with all of the experiences in the video, my love of learning and curiosity were piqued.  For example, I didn’t understand why the athletes were crossing their arms over their chest.  I have found out that this is known as the Wakanda Forever Salute and has been inspired by the movie, Black Panther, whose core philosophy is “With great power comes great responsibility.”

As I was reminded of the rescue of the soccer team from the caves in Thailand and watched the young boy/superhero delivering meals to the homeless, my strengths of bravery and fairness were awakened.  As a result, I reflected on my own brave acts of 2018 which were most often driven by my strength of fairness.
